In September 2013, SLOT will have continuously presented exhibitions to the street for a decade. Located at the edge of Sydney's CBD squeezed between a Thai restaurant, laundry, and at one of the city's busiest commuter intersections, this location has forced a rethinking how we engage with audiences and communities. What this modest gallery has demonstrated is a willingness to allow a work to emerge out of experimental and collaborative processes and dialogue, extending the idea of 'our neighbourhood' to the region. Simply, SLOT places art from around the corner and from around our region beside the road to be viewed 24 hours daily. SLOT is a privately-funded independent space. SLOT currently run a second window gallery called DIP (Darlington Installation Project), which will also be involved in Dispatch.
