Artist Bio:
Hutchison-Byng is a collaborative partnership between Arini Kai Cullen Byng and Georgia Charlotte Bloxham Hutchison. Since early 2012, the duo have been investigating shared aesthetic and theoretical concerns regarding object culture. With a background in Industrial Design and cultural production, Hutchison takes a critical and rigorous approach to consumerism and post-materialist culture. Byng — emerging from fine art photography and spatial practice — approaches the shared practice with a heuristic manner, skillfully finding nuance and richness in material communication. In tandem, Hutchison-Byng form narratives of ideal, excess and value across medium and format. 2013 marks a collaborative venture into wider creative practice incorporating curation, publication, installation and photographic works. Selected exhibitions include Perimeter, IPF and Printed Matter at MoMA PS1. Works have been commissioned for publications including Higher Arc, and a recently launched monograph titled ‘Moved Objects’, published by Perimeter Editions. |
